On April 29, 2024, the Ohio State Bar Association (OSBA) will be sponsoring its sixth annual program on the Importance of the Ohio Constitution. This year’s program, which begins at 12:30 pm and is again a live interactive webinar, looks at home rule and the nuts and bolts of Ohio Supreme Court practice in cases involving state constitutional issues. Speakers include Ohio Supreme Court Justices Sharon L. Kennedy, R. Patrick DeWine, and Patrick F, Fischer, and U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit Chief Judge Jeffrey S. Sutton in addition to other lawyers with expertise on the Ohio Constitution and Ohio practice.

This is the sixth annual program sponsored by the OSBA on The Importance of the Ohio Constitution. Earlier programs focused on developments in Ohio and other states on rights-protecting state constitutional provisions, home rule, direct democracy, criminal law, limitations on the General Assembly, the role of the courts, and state constitutional interpretation. This year’s program builds on the earlier programs and looks at home rule and the nuts and bolts of Ohio Supreme Court practice in cases involving state constitutional issues.
